Wonder Pill Cuts Fat By Half

A new wonder pill has been recently discovered that delivers amazing results. The pill has shown results when tested in mice that decrease body weight by a quarter and fat mass by forty-two percent in only one week. Over one month the pill shed the mice’s fat mass by nearly sixty-three percent and body weight by nearly thirty percent. The breakthrough was published in the journal “Nature Chemical Body”.

While the results were amazing, the scientists behind the study noted that future tests must be conducted before the drug is deemed safe for humans. The researchers believe this a breakthrough into treatment of obesity and obesity related illnesses. The wonder pill is an artificial hormone containing glucagon and glucagon-like peptide-1, two hormones that regulate the way the body converts fuel into energy.

The doctor behind the study was Dr. Richard DiMarchi from Indiana who developed the synthetic drug that binds the two hormones together to make them active. He said giving animals glucagon is known to reduce food intake but never in quantities as great as twenty-five percent. The pill gives hope to obese people who currently face a choice between various treatments that have major side affects that are very unfavorable such as gastric bypass which restricts the size of the stomach and pills that block the absorption of fat but that have unpleasant side affects.
