If you eat a healthy and balanced diet while being physically active, it is not necessary to take oral vitamins. Studies at the Universities of Jen and Leipzig in Germany have demonstrated that certain vitamins, especially vitamin C and E, can actually increase a bodies risk for diabetes.

Regular physical activity generally protects against diabetes by making the muscle cells more sensitive to insulin, which allows the cells to better absorb and process nutrients such as sugar.

Physical activity releases free radicals, which the body can usually deal with efficiently on its own. The intake of vitamins, which are artificial antioxidants, can prevent the emergence of these free radicals, causing harm to the body. Because the free radicals are not released the muscle cells sensitivity to insulin is changed, which can lead to diabetes.

Many scientists have doubted the effectiveness of oral vitamins for year, and some believe that they can be harmful.

For hundreds of years mankind has survived without taking artificial vitamins. Mostly because our human ancestors eat whatever nature provided for them, which was generally fruits and vegetables. So if you are a physically active person, make sure to have a varied diet of fruits and vegetables to best optimize your health.
